AC Milan 1-1 Atalanta:Milan's run of good form continues as they end Atalanta slender title hopes
Atalanta's title ambitions suffered a severe blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.
With Juventus having lost to Udinese on Thursday, the men from Bergamo had a chance to move up to within three points of Sarri's side with a win.
Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring in the 14th minute, while Ruslan Malinovskiy missed a penalty, before Duvan Zapata equaliser.
The draw leaves Atalanta's fates in the hands of others, while Juve need one more win to secure the title.
Although,Atalanta started on the front foot, Milan took the lead through a wonderfully curled Hakan Calhanoglu free kick
Atalanta were given a lifeline when Lucas Biglia stamped on Malinovskiy and it was spotted by the VAR, only for Gianlugi Donarumma to save the resulting spot kick.
But after Calhanoglu rattled the crossbar, although from an offside position, Atalanta equalised through Duvan Zapata, after Remo Freuler's shot was deflected into his path.
Atalanta's captain went close with a dangerous effort before the hour mark, but Gollini was grateful not to be picking the ball out of his net as Alexis Saelemaekers close range strike was blocked.
Giacomo Bonaventura was next to go close to a Milan goal, as the substitute hit the post with 17 minutes left to play.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic wanted a late penalty, as he claimed that he was fouled by Berat Djimsiti, but his appeals fell on deaf ears while Milan had a backroom staff sent off for his remonstrations at the referee's decision.
What's next?
Milan next face Sampdoria in their penultimate Serie A fixture, while Champions League quarter finalists, Atalanta are on the road when they face Parma.
