Alaves 0-5 Barcelona:Catalan giants take out Laliga frustration on Alaves
Lionel Messi ran the show for past Laliga champions Barcelona, as they trashed Alaves 5-0 in Laliga Santander.
Against Alaves,it was a case of the ex-champions showing why they are still the most watchable team in Spain on their day as Lionel Messi bagged a brace to move up to 24 goals for the Laliga season, while further goals from Ansu Fati, Luis Suarez, and Nelson Semedo gave Barca a commanding victory away from home.
Barcelona surrendered their Laliga crown post lockdown as too many draws dented their title aspirations, whilst their defeat against Osasuna last time out compiled their misery.
The club from Catalonia had already hit the post three time prior to their opening goal in the 24th minute from Ansu Fati.
Messi was the architect of the goals his cross was slightly deflected into the path of 17 year old Fati who finished into the bottom right corner.
The second goal came 10 minutes after the first as in the 34th minute,Messi was set up by Ricard Puig, with the Argentine maestro stroking in from closw range.
Arturo Vidal had a header well saved from Messi's deadly cross, before Suarez made it 3-0 in the 44th minute with a header after great link up play between Jordi Alba and Lionel Messi.
Nelson Semedo who came on for the injured Clement Lenglet burst into the Alaves box before smashinh the ball into the back of the net for Barca's fourth in the 57th minute.
Lionel Messi put a seal on the victory in the 75th minute as he met with Jordi Alba's cross to make it 5-0 and end what has been a very disappointing campaign for Barca on a high note.
