Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool:Liverpool's chances of breaking the 100 point mark extinguished after loss to Gunners

Liverpool saw their hopes of achieving a record premier points haul of 102 points dashed as two errors at the back proved costly.

The Reds needed at least a point at the Emirates to stand any chance of equalling Man City's points haul of 100 points from two seasons ago.

However, uncharacteristic errors from Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson allowed Arsenal to come from behind and claim a famous win over the champions.

There was an early warning about Emiliano Martinez's clearances when Roberto Firmino charged down one of his attempts and blocked the ball onto the post.

Ten minutes later and Martinez gave away the ball from his kick, with Firmino releasing Andy Robertson to slide across for Mane who finished without a second invitation to give Liverpool the lead.

However,Arsenal soon turned the game on its head following mistakes by Van Dijk and Alisson.

First,Van Dijk under pressure from Nelson played a loose ball between Fabinho and Alisson, allowing Lacazette to strike for the equaliser.

Next,it was Alisson's turn to give the ball away,Lacazette again seizing upon the ball before squaring for Reiss Nelson to score his first Premier League goal for Arsenal.

Liverpool almost equalised early in the second half as Mohammes Salah sat down David Luiz with a dummy before striking the ball, only to see Martinez tip the ball over the crosssbar.

Takumi Minamino came off the bench and he dragged one shoy wide, and the Japan international felt he should have had a penalty when Kieran Tierney's pressure in the box went unpunished.
