Champions League quarter finals and semi-finals draw confirmed

The 12 remaining teams in the champions league teams can now begin to strategize on how they'll navigate through the quarter finals and semi finals after the draw was held in Nyon.

Wednesday 12 August

This season's quarter finals, semi finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon, Portugal in August. All those ties will be single leg fixtures.

Draw Facts:

• Leipzig and Atlético have never played each other.

• Atlético have won their last eight knockout ties against German sides. Their last aggregate defeat came against Dynamo Dresden in the 1979/80 UEFA Cup first round.

• Atalanta and Paris have never played each other.

• Paris are without a win in their last eight matches against Serie A opposition (D6 L2), since a 3-1 victory against Parma in March 1996.

• The last three times Bayern and Barcelona have met in the UEFA Champions League, the winners went on to lift the trophy: 2014/15 semi-finals (Barcelona), 2012/13 semi-finals (Bayern), 2008/09 quarter-finals (Barcelona)

• Real Madrid and Juventus have met 21 times in UEFA competition, including Madrid's wins in the UEFA Champions League finals in 1998 (1-0) and 2017 (4-1).

• Lyon took four points off Manchester City in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage – three coming in a shock 2-1 victory at the City of Manchester Stadium on Matchday 1.

Bournemouth 0-2 Southampton:Danny Ings score as the loss leaves Cherries on the brink of relegation

Danny Ings scored his 21st Premier League goal of the season as Southampton defeated Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium.  Ings scored with a good finish in tge 41st minute as he put glitters to sweeping Saints counter attack.  He had a chance to double his side's lead, but he sent a tame shot that was saved by Aaron Ramsdale, after Harry Wilson handled in the box. Bournemouth thought they had equalised through Sam Surridge, only for VAR to judge that Callum Wilson was in an offside position whilst also interfering with play, before Substitute Che Adams hit the final nail in the coffin to almost certainly dash Bournemouth's hopes of staying up. Eddie Howe's men are three points from safety with a trip to Everton still to come. Survival on goal difference is the best they can hope for, as 17th placed Watford will condemn the Cherries to the 2nd division for next season, if and only if they can claim a point from one of their last two games with matches agains...

Milan moved up to fifth in the Serie A standings courtesy of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic double after the veteran striker's first half brace either side of Francesco Caputo's penalty. Milan took the lead after Kessie would the ball as Sassuolo attempted playing from the back, before Hakan Calhanoglu's cross was nodded in by the big Swede. Milan lost two players to injury as they had to be without Andrea Conti and Captain Alessio Romagnoli, before Caputo converted from the penalty spot after a lengthy VAR review. But Calhanoglu and Ibrahimovic combined again before the end of the first half as Ibra gathered the Turkish international's through ball before rounding Andrea Consigli to score. What's next? Milan next host Atalanta on Friday in a key fixture, while Sassuolo travel to the Sao Paulo to face Napoli on Saturday.
