Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa: Liverpool victorious at Anfield for first time since being crowned champions

Liverpool won their first game at Anfield since being crowned champions as they heaped more misery on relegation threatened Aston Villa with a 2-0 win.

Having been angered by a 4-0 thumping from Manchester City on Thursday, Jurgen Klopp saw his side win despite a lot still to be desired from the performance.

Sadio Mane's 71st minutes goal was his 50th goal at Anfield, as he scored from a Naby Keita. While Curtis Jones who signed a new contract this week came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal.

What does it mean? Reds still rolling towards history

The Reds are now just 11 points shy of the 100 points mark with five games left to play. Villa, meanwhile are running out of time to avoid an almost inevitably looking relegation.

Mane the man for Liverpool

In a poor game of precious few chances, Mane had to step up when the time came, and he did just that as he scored from Keita's low cross.
