Manchester City 2-1 Bournemouth:Citizens drop key players but manage to defeat relegation threatened Bournemouth

David Silva scored a free kick as Pep Guardiola's men claimed a hard fought 2-1 win at home over Bournemouth.

City started the match on the front foot and went ahead after David Silva scored a direct free kick, his second free kick goal in as many weeks.

Josh King really should have done better with an early chance but his finish went wide of the mark. Bournemouth began gaining more ground in the City defence as Ederson had to be alert to keep out a Junior Stanislas' free kick.

City scored their second through Gabriel Jesus as he was found by David Silva and he showed great skill and composure to convert the chance.

Bournemouth thought they had pulled one back but the goal was chalked off as Callum Wilson was adjudged to be offside by the VAR. City were awarded a penalty but after VAR checks the penalty was chalked off.

Bournemouth got a deserved goal as after Callum Wilson played a ball into the box it was well converted by David Brooks.

What's next?
Man City next play an FA Cup semi final against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday, while Bournemouth next host Southampton on Sunday at the Vitality Stadium.
