SPAL 0-4 Inter Milan:Sanchez shines as Inter close gap to Juve to six points
Gagliardini was inspiring at the start, running on every ball, trying to get his head on Christian Eriksen’s crosses. Inter looked comfortable and eventually took the lead through Antonio Candreva, who was at the end of a great combination of play.
Alexis Sanchez received the ball in the middle, as Inter came with four men against three and just span to flick it onto an unmarked Candreva, who made no mistakes one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Inter seemed to be in control and pushed for more, with Sanchez heavily involved in every build-up, but it was SPAL who had the last call for a decision.
Strefezza was brought down by Samir Handanovic, after having been played through by Cerri. The goalkeeper didn’t make any contact before the SPAL man had already attempted to finish and no penalty was given, but VAR had to be consulted.
The second half started slowly and Inter looked in control. Alexis was at the end of some great combinations, flicked through by Lautaro but Letica stood in his way.The Chilean’s finish down the middle was stopped by a strong one-handed save from the SPAL goalkeeper.
But in the 55th minute Cristiano Biraghi made sure Inter could relax a bit more, as he cut inside from the left and steered the ball into the bottom corner with a neat finish from the edge of the area.
Only five minutes later, Alexis would get his goal for the night, at the end of another great play by Biraghi. The cross was shot inside and the Inter players formed an orderly queue to direct it into the net.
Alexis met it with his head and did well to steer it into the net and top of a great performance with a goal an assist.
Inter were comfortably running down the Biancazzurri and Gagliardini crowned a great performance in the middle by scoring the fourth of the night in the 74th minute.
Ashley Young picked down a cross at the far post and sent it across goal, where Gagliardini met it with the side of his boot and tapped in for 4-0.
