Udinese 0-0 Lazio:Inzaghi's men faulter again as winless run continues

Lazio held on for dear life to a point in Udine, with Rodrigo De Paul striking the woodwork deep into stoppages, but at least ended their losing streak.

Simone Inzaghi’s men had lost three on the bounce and fallen into third place, behind Inter on goal difference, so needed to end the slide against relegation-threatened Udinese. Patric was still suspended, with Senad Lulic, Adam Marusic and Joaquin Correa injured, while the Friulani are without Rolando Mandragora for the rest of the season.

It was an aggressive start from the hosts, Rodrigo De Paul firing over and Kevin Lasagna’s run cut short by a sliding Francesco Acerbi block in driving rain.

Juan Musso flew to palm away a Manuel Lazzari snapshot from distance, but Udinese had more chances with Rodrigo Becao testing Thomas Strakosha at the back post on Ken Sema’s cross.

Udinese lost Mato Jajalo to injury on the stroke of half-time. Stefano Okaka had the ball in the net straight after the restart, but only visibly after Lasagna had run it out of play.

Luiz Felipe bravely used his body to charge down Lasagna’s strike, then Lasagna forced a save from Strakosha when he shrugged off Luiz Felipe to run from midfield.

It was all Udinese in the second half, Strakosha flying to punch De Paul’s screamer out from under the bar, then Seko Fofana failed to take advantage of a defensive howler.

With the last kick of the game, De Paul thought he’d finally beaten Strakosha, but the daisy-cutter smacked against the base of the far post.
