Wolves 3-0 Everton: Raul Jimenez, Leander Dendoncker and Diogo Jota on target as hosts breathe new life into European challenge and deal killer blow to Carlo Ancelotti's men

  • Wolves beat Everton to bolster their challenge for European football next year
  • Raul Jimenez opened the scoring for the hosts with a penalty before the break
  • Leander Dendoncker then netted soon after the restart with a deft header
  • Substitute Diogo Jota fired in the third after Ruben Neves' sumptuous assist
  • Wolves hauled their bid for European football next season back on track after easing past fellow contenders Everton at Molineux.

Raul Jimenez broke the deadlock just seconds before the half-time break from the penalty spot, and owed much of the credit to his tricky team-mate Daniel Podence. The winger dazzled two players before then spinning beyond Lucas Digne inside box and won the spot kick.

And Leander Dendoncker dealt the crucial blow for the hosts just seconds after the restart. Pedro Neto's inviting delivery from a free-kick picked out the Belgium international, who nodded beyond Jordan Pickford.

There was even time for Diogo Jota to add a third after replacing Neto, with the substitute collecting Ruben Neves' sensational pass before rifling home at the near post.
